THE EXPERIENCE
Program Dates: July 6 – August 13, 2021
Location: Wynwood Art District I Miami Light Project, 404 NW 26th St., Miami, FL 33127 

Declare Hiphop, a PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy Production, is a creative, personal, and professional development residency for teens (ages 14-18). Reimagine the future and celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the Hip Hop Declaration of Peace.

THE ELEMENTS
+ Study 2 disciplines from:
1) Rap/Spoken Word,
2) Breakin(Dance),
3) Urban Art/Grafitti,
4) Music Production

BONUS ELEMENT

5) Digital Storytelling intensive with PATH’s Archiving Team (The A Team).

ELIGIBILITY + COST

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

+ Emerging artists, leaders, scholars and entrepreneurs (ages 14 – 18)
+ Strong creative abilities
+ An interest in producing art that has social impact
+ Interest in collaborating with others

MAKE THE COMMITMENT

OPTION 1: PAIR I (PATH Artist-In-Residence I)*
Investment: $50.00 application fee 
Time Commitment: 1 year (June 2021 – May 2022)

OPTION 2: PATH Summer Crew
Investment: $50.00 application fee + $350.00 program fee
Time Commitment: June – August 2021 (with opportunity to join the 1 year PAIR I residency)

* The PAIR I (PATH Artist-In-Residence  I) option is a year-long opportunity that begins in the summer and continues into the school year. Invest 10 hours/month in your creative, personal and professional development. > Learn more about the PAIR I Commitment

THE COMMITMENT

You must be available to attend ALL program dates below:

+ Session Dates/Times
July 6 – August 13, 2021 @ 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM (weekdays)

+ Final Production & Exhibition
August 12, 2021 @ 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Miami Light Project)

BEYOND THE SUMMER
The PAIR I (PATH Artist-In-Residence  I) option is a year-long opportunity that begins in the summer and continues into the school year. Invest 10 hours/month in your creative, personal and professional development. > Learn more about the PAIR I Commitment

ARTIST TRACKS

We welcome creatives from all genres. Select two of the tracks and lend your skills to this artist-centered production.

Performing Arts Track (Vocals): Songwriting / MC or Rap / Singing / Spoken Word / Vocal Performance

Performing Arts Track (Movement): Choreography / Creative Movement / Dance / B Boy or B Girl

Audio/Sound Track: Music Composition / Production / Recording / Sound Engineering

Visual Art Track (Visual Storytelling + Design): Photography / Videography / Graffiti Art / Costume & Set Design

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
We want to get to know you. Share samples of your skills by submitting one of the following:

+ Beats (original productions only please)

+ Dance

+ Monologue

+ Photography

+ Song / Rap / Rhyme 

+ Spoken Word piece

+ Visual art

+ Video

+ Any other creative work sample

The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
