Rescue

As our population continues to grow, so do our interactions with wildlife. Over 75% of injuries treated at PHSS are a direct result of human-related activities, including vehicle collisions, hook and line injuries, & window strikes.

Thanks to the collaborative rescue efforts of trained volunteers, good samaritans, and local partners, these defenseless animals are brought to PHSS for a second chance at life.

Rehabilitate

Upon arrival, each animal receives a thorough examination by our staff of veterinarians and trained rehabilitators. PHSS is a full-service wildlife hospital, routinely performing advanced treatments such as fracture repair, trauma response, x-rays, and laser therapy.

The average cost of care per patient is $538*, and includes examinations, treatments, diets, medication, and husbandry. (*Cost of Care = Wildlife Clinic Expenses / # of Patients Released)

Release

PHSS has released over 10,000 animals to date, helping to offset the impact of human activities and maintain the fragile balance of our urban ecosystem. When a rehabilitated animal is released, it has the opportunity to reproduce, contributing to the overall health and genetic diversity of the population.

There is no greater feeling than to release a once-injured animal back into the wild for a second chance at life, and YOUR donations make it all possible!

Educate

Our Environmental Education Programs are designed to inform, educate, and empower the public with the skills needed to make informed decisions and take responsible actions.

By providing the public with specific and actionable behavior changes, we can keep conservation, wildlife protection, pollution, and other environmental issues and solutions at the forefront of change.
